Company Information

Company History
Hisco was founded in the 1940's as Houston Industrial Supply Company. The original company changed hands numerous times until 1970, when Paul Merriman purchased the business for the sum of $1.00. In 1971, the company that we know today was incorporated as HISCO, an employee-owned company. For more than 38 years, Hisco has been a leader in supply chain solutions and has achieved a sustainable competitive advantage by our commitment to excellence in high quality products and individualized customer service.

Today, the international Hisco branch network includes 30 stocking locations - 22 in the United States (including Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic) and 8 operated by our HiscoMex subsidiary in Mexico - plus 4 Precision Converting facilities that provide value-added fabrication and custom repackaging. Hisco is a specialty distribution company serving the electronic assembly and other industrial markets whose mission is to deliver value to customers through quality products, process solutions and local inventory. In addition, we offer specialized warehousing for chemical management, cold storage and logistic services.

Backed by a strong corporate organization, our branches enjoy the flexibility of local decision-making, which enables them to respond rapidly and innovatively to your needs. Our Lean Solutions Team is constantly working to define and implement ways to help our customers improve processes. Because we are 100 percent employee-owned (ESOP), everyone at Hisco has a vested interest in making sure our performance exceeds your expectations.

Quality Products
Continuous quality improvement in every part of our business is the constant goal at Hisco. We will strive for customer satisfaction through continual improvements as the best method to achieve fast, friendly service.

During the 35 years since Hisco was established, our supplier base has grown to include world-class organizations such as 3M™, Alpha Metals, Momentive Performance Materials, Henkel Loctite, Brady USA, Panduit and Intermec. Local Inventory
While other distributors are abandoning individual markets in favor of establishing regional warehouses, Hisco continues to grow by adding local facilities. By expanding our sales presence and warehousing capabilities, Hisco can respond rapidly to standard, JIT and emergency needs; we can also service national accounts on a local basis. Customized inventory management is available to further support your business.

On-Time Delivery
Fast, friendly service is the core philosophy of our delivery operations; it is evident in our on-time delivery rate which exceeds 95 percent. Rush or emergency service is no problem- your Hisco representative has the autonomy to get your products to you as fast as possible. We ship products in town, out of town, out of state and overseas.

Fast, Friendly Service
Fast, Friendly Service is more than a motto; it is the commitment central to our approach. We believe in building relationships and providing unique solutions to meet your needs through fast, friendly service. With more than 100 inside and outside sales representatives, we are always ready to serve you promptly. Each year, our employees are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of training in order to remain educated and informed of technological and industry changes. We can guarantee that your technical sales representative is a highly trained professional who will understand your business and develop improved ways to serve you.

ESOP- Employee Stock Ownership Plan
Paul Merriman, the founder of Hisco, was a pioneer of ESOPs (Employee Stock Ownership Plans); in 1974, Hisco became one of the original employee-owned companies. Hiring good people and giving them a “piece of the action” is a Merriman philosophy that continues to define our culture.

At Hisco, every employee is empowered to make a difference. Because we are 100 percent employee-owned, everyone at Hisco has a vested interest in making sure our performance exceeds our customer’s expectations. We strive to provide a greater value for customers, stronger relationships with suppliers, and focused growth for the company. The ESOP has served as a strategic method to assure continuity, encourage ownership, provide incentive, and to enable attractive financing. Now for over 30 years, Hisco has been celebrating its “culture of ownership” which is deeply embedded in our employees.
